Focused call for Expressions of Interest – deadline for new submissions – 14th April 2023

February 16, 2023

On 24th February, the Open Rivers Programme will open a new call for applications for grant categories A and B with a deadline for short Expressions of Interest (EoI) of 14th April 2023 at 17:00 CET.

Specifically, the programme is looking for projects that demonstrate exceptional ecological potential and ideally result in barrier selection and preparation (A1, A2, B) or barrier removal projects (A3) that enable at least 10 km of river to flow freely again.

For this call, the programme is only accepting applications from countries where few dam removals have taken place, and exceptional ecological potential can be demonstrated. Countries eligible to submit an EoI include Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, and Ukraine.

Do you have a project in mind that fit these criteria? Please apply for a grant using our application portal. If you have any questions, please write to applications@openrivers.eu

The programme’s next call for applications from any European country will be in July 2023. Please refer to our application calendar for more details.
